Hello again Quads. This is the download link. wikisend.com/download/602286/Quarantine.zipTo let you know I did an updated zip on the Quarantine folder today 26/07/14, using 7-Zip. The previous one was created on 17/07/14. I hope this is acceptable. But I still have the 17/07 one if you require that. Can I please ask you whether, based on what you know already of possible malware / threats on my PC, it is currently safe & secure to use this PC for online purchases with cc and/or with Paypal ? Many thanks again.

Hi Quads.
Immediately after posting my last reply I realised that the 2 zip files I referred to are probably identical, as I didn't rerun FRST. Silly oversight!
Thanks.

Yes for online shopping, just make sure before doing so Norton looks for any new definitions

Thanks Quads.
Norton Liveupdate still failing to complete. In latest: Norton Web Protection Definitions Failed Norton Web Protection Definitions (hub) Failed
Norton Virus Definitions x64 Success Norton Pulse Updates Success Norton Reputation Revocation List Success
Decided to try Intelligent Updater. Double clicked on the 64bit file, got final message that it completed successfully.
Having regard to your July 13 message re the definition files and to the above, I wonder can I assume that Norton is providing full protection for online purchases etc.
I appreciate very much your continuing advice.

I am unsure what is happening with just the Web protection defs, Did you install Norton at any stage on top of the problem with the system?? Start OTL, Right click "Run as Administrator" Under Copy and paste What I have put in the .txt file I have attached, all the way to the bottom ([REBOOT] is the last command line) , It is in the correct line by line layout as it is to be for OTL to understand, what I want it to do. (include the : at the start of :OTL and all the way to the end / bottom) and run the script. (Red Run Fix Button) The output log, should be placed in the C:\_OTL\MovedFiles folder after, to attach back here. Looks like a txt file not a Folder Quads

Attachment DeletedHi Quads. I haven’t re installed full Norton since June 28th , coinciding with the start of these problems. This didn't solve the failure to complete updates then. But by July 5th Liveupdate successfully completing. On July 13th failed to complete, which has continued to date. Very recently the Intelligent Updater has indicated successful completion on the large 64-bit definitions file I downloaded. Please see attached output log files, as per your instructions. Many thanks again.

" haven’t re installed full Norton since June 28th , coinciding with the start of these problems" which could be part of the problem as If say the system had the PUP's before the reinstall of Norton, then the install process may have had a small problem with the PUP's installed (Why MBAM had a problems to) Considering I took 2 goes to break them with FRST to start with.
Or it could just be a transfer of updates problem.
How is your system running now?? (except Norton with the updates) before removing all the disinfect tools (files, folders and keys).

Hi Quads.
PC is running fine and I'm happy with its performance. Internet browsing using Google Chrome is fast (albeit having a good broadband connection of about 40mb). No problems with emails, no recent occurrences of repeat emails being downloaded (even though you offered another possible explanation for that).
So overall very satisfied.
Thanks.
