I have found others on the Symantec Forum (not Norton Forums) with the same problem, One I have looks at so far is to do with the Definitions, if corrupt or some other failure The other one is if the SMCservice has not started (SmcService; C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.2015.2015.105\Bin64\Smc.exe [2294112 2012-11-03] (Symantec Corporation) Lets finish the removal Tools and Quarantines we used to be removed Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop. toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/2-delfix/Double-click to run the program; Note: Windows Vista/7/8 users right-click and choose Run as administratorMake sure the Remove Disinfection tools is ticked / selected in the list Click RunA log will be opened after the operation is finished Copy and Paste it in your next reply Quads

Thanks, this morning SEP does not show that error message, instead shows 'your system is protected'. I also updated the definitions yesterday. I'll keep that solution in mind if it happens again.

Quite possibly using tools like FRST during a restart stops the service

I was also going to ask, you said before that adaware is incompatible with SEP. Is there a similar program that is compatible? I don't mind having to pay for a program.
