I have been helping fix my sister's computer remotely while she's in college. I have successfully reinstalled the antivirus software and cleaned up a lot of junk programs from her computer. However, as I attempted to do a full system scan with Norton Antivirus, the screen comes up as a blanked out application window. I can still click on items in the window, but I cannot see anything in the window. I suspect that the issue runs deeper than this as my sister had problems in the past with running very simple internet-based programs and had similar issues as what I have described (google docs, etc.). I have run the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and obtained the requested text files. Please find them at the following links: wikisend.com/download/322044/FRST.txtwikisend.com/download/283554/Addition.txtPlease advise on this issue, thank you!

Your FRST logs are clean so there could be permissions and registry issues at hand here. Please download Tweaking.com's Windows Repair All-in-One from here. Double click on the file to install it; please leave the defaults for the install locations as this will make it easier to find logs, backups, etc. in case anything goes astray. The program will run a self check to make sure that all the correct files have been extracted for it to run and then it will load the program. As you can see, there are many steps to take in using this program; most of these deal with working with a 'normal' running system. In this case we will use some to back up the registry and make a System Restore point, then repair your system. (Note: Please select to have WRAIO reboot your system into Safe Mode with Networking [ you can do this by clicking on the button in the lower right hand part of the tools's Main screen ]; this allows the tool to work on Windows without third party programs interfering. Once your system boots into Safe Mode, log in and start the Windows Repair All-In-One tool to continue the repair process. As always, if you have a question, stop and come ask before proceeding.) Please click on the tab labeled "Backup Tools". Once there, click on "Backup" under the Registry Backup. This will make a complete backup of the current registry which can be reloaded should anything go wrong with the repairs that are going to be made. After that, click on Create under System Restore to make a System Restore point before any changes are made. Once this is done, click on 'Repairs' and then click on Open Repairs. On this screen, click the dropdown list and select Malware Cleanup Repairs, check Restart/Shutdown system and select Restart System. Click Start Repairs and confirm that the program starts running the fixes. This will take a while to run, so you can let it run unattended if you like. Log files are being recorded should anything need to be checked later.
