I posted a message at the same time mine is just above
It may have been that FRST loaded had to be interrupted and on the Restart Windows was still looking for something of FRST.

This time I did a Shutdown, waited a few minutes and powered back up. No error message. All looks OK except something is really hitting the Internet. Constant traffic of some kind. I can't figure out what is using it so much.

You do have a lot of programs / files that do load from companies like Toshiba, Brother, Java and Adobe (reader or Flash Player etc), Windows itself and Malwarebytes in Realtime which could along with Symantec / Norton be checking for updates frequently. You may after we finish just want to check programs that do update checks. Uninstall ESET Then Tools and Quarantines we used to be removed Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop. toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/2-delfix/Double-click to run the program; Note: Windows Vista/7/8 users right-click and choose Run as administrator Make sure the Remove Disinfection tools is ticked / selected in the list Click RUNA log will be opened after the operation is finished Copy and Paste it in your next reply Quads

I think I have discovered what has been thrashing the hard drive and the Internet. I noticed the GoogleDrive process running in Task Manager. It should not have been because everything in the Google Drive folder was backed up days ago. I killed the process and now I seem to be normal. Maybe the malware messed up the Google Drive app. I'm just going to coast for awhile now.

I gave instructions above
You may want to alter how Google drive runs so that it only does so, every so many days, or When you do so manually

You can have the Free version of Malwarebytes, It only starts when you start the program and you have to manually do definition updates and scans
You are free to go on your merry way. You are now fixed / Solved.

I want you to know that I am grateful for your expert help. I've been writing code since 1968. I've had a personal computer of one type or another in my home since 1977. I worked for Apple Computer for 3 years. I ran my own software development company for 23 years. This malware problem had me totally flummoxed.

That is why there are people who specialise in the use of and scripting for these advanced tools and how to read logs and understand in the head symptoms belonging to what and where.
