Hi,
So yesterday my computer couldn't open on startup and had to do an automatic system restore to open. After this I couldn't access the internet through Chrome (said it was unable to access the network), although could through Firefox. I Reinstalled chrome and it now works fine. However I cannot open Norton, it just displays Error 8504 104, then says live update repair failed.
So I followed the instructions on Nortons linked website but it says to download the removal tool and when I try to do this I get the same message I did from chrome, "unable to access the network".
I am concerned its malware, so have tried restoring the system to a previous time , nothing, run power eraser and found nothing, downloaded malwarebytes free and found nothing (although couldn't update the database, said it couldn't access the server ?) and used msconfig to look for any suspicious startup programmes but couldn't see anything.
I removed all non norton security and checked the graphics drivers as suggested and nothing has allowed norton to start working again.
From the other posts on norton community forum I have a suspicion it could be malware. An old post said that it may be this stopping removal tool opening and malwarebytes free updating its database, although the machine isn't slow, there isn't any bugging or crashing and the cpu and memory usage aren't elevated any help much appreciated !!
Its norton 360 version nov 14.3 although not 100% on the version as i cant open norton to check.
I posted this to the Norton community forums and Floplot recommended I get my system checked with a malware removal site such as yours so here I am !
Many Thanks
