Thanks to an expert in the Norton Community I was STRONLY advised to seek help from you guys - with a problem which seems minor. But it scares the hell out of me, that I no longer have control over my internet searches. I ran the Norton Power Eraser - before I did a system restore process, but Norton Power Eraser wasn't able to fully remove (only detect) a returning low threat malware/adware-virus involving Yahoo Search (PUA-Yontoo), which completely overrules my Firefox settings, where I by the way have deleted Yahoo Search possibilities. Afterwards I ran a full system scan, and Norton Security detected and deleted trojans and other issues conneced to this virus, but the problem persists: Yahoo-searches dominates. Also my Norton Security is several times a day blocking PUA-Yontoo updates, which tells me, that the virus is not fully removed.
When I go to "Options" and "General" in my Firefox browser, I noticed that Firefox seemingly starts up from this homepage:
hxxp://searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net/h?eq=U0EeCFZVBB8SRggWeQsBAF9JGRhAIQ1dTA1FRVAOeV8JURQTFAYTIVpcUQwTQg0FIk0FA18DB0VXfWFoKB8fHGZXNV1BMlwQU1ZLF1BWBVYG
Doing a little research reveals, that this is a hijacker-program which "first connects to searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net/, which then redirects you to Yahoo where it will display its ads". But the problem is.. I can't remove the address from my Firefox permanently - it keeps coming back.
It seems, that no matter what I do, I can't get rid of the little shit
I don't know if it is related, but after starting my pc up, it takes some time before I'm allowed to write my password - as if it has other things to do first. Maybe it takes 15-30 sec. I never experienced this before..
I will be soooo grateful for a solution to this ongoing problem. Also.. I'm Danish, so please go easy with the IT/tech-vocabulary
