Hi,
Thanks for your time.
I recently got an email from Virgin Media (My broadband suppliers), stating that Gozi was present on a computer that accessed my internet connection.
However My computer is running completely normal which makes me think that I don't have the malware.
I've attached the email from Virgin below:
Your financial transactions and personal data could be at risk
We’ve had a report that one or more of the devices you use to access the internet has become infected with malicious software (malware). We don’t know which device, but it means that your personal data and online financial transactions, including any credit card purchases, could be compromised.
How we found the problem
To protect our customers, we work with a number of not-for-profit organisations that gather information about internet connections that appear to be compromised or misconfigured. On 01 February 2017, one of these organisations detected that gozi, a piece of malware, was present on a device using your internet connection.
To make sure your data remains safe and secure, you need to take action now.
Our recommended solution
Our recommended solution is to use the scanning and clean-up tool in F-Secure SAFE Internet Security. F-Secure is a Virgin Media partner, and SAFE Internet Security is recognised by many industry experts as one of the most effective anti-virus tools available. As a Virgin Media customer, you can use it free for 12 months (with no commitment to purchase after 12 months). It then costs £25 per year to protect up to 5 devices.
To download F-Secure SAFE go to f-secure.com/virginmedia **
Alternative options
You might also be able to solve the issue using alternative anti-virus software. For more guidance, including how to access expert help and support from our Gadget Rescue service, visit virginmedia.com/malware
More help and support
For extra advice, or to double-check that this is a genuine Virgin Media communication, head to our community at virginmedia.com/community, click 'Help forum' and join the conversation on the Security Matters board.
Kind regards,
The Virgin Media team
* Minimum system requirements and Acceptable Use Policy apply. Gadget Rescue is available on a monthly subscription basis (6 month minimum term applies) or as a "One-Off Fix" service. GadgetRescue terms and conditions apply.
** F-Secure SAFE is included free of charge for 12 months with your Virgin Broadband. If you're happy when the year is up you can continue with F-Secure SAFE for just £7.50 every three months, or £25 for the year.
Thanks for you help with this,
Thoren
