Are you using the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall Norton?

I did but it left files on the hard drive. I manually delete these. Just want to totally remove the program at this point. I am currently running a windows defender scan. Is there another antivirus program that you could recommend to verify the 2 different results. I was thinking of download AVG's free version but am scared to download anything at this point.

First > There is a Kotver removal tool from Norton / Symantec available here. This tool uses special steps that are outside of the Security Suites' current capabilities. Second > Go to Emsisoft and download the Emsisoft Free Emergency Kit from here. - Double click on the EmsisoftEmergencyKit.exe file and then click on Extract to unpack the files (the default directory of C:\EEK is fine).
- Go to the new directory and right click on Start Emergency Kit Scanner.exe and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
- Once the scanner loads, allow it check for updates.
- When the updates are finished, click the BACK button to return to the main menu.
- Click on the SCAN and select Malware Scan to start scanning your system. Please enable the PUP detection option, if it asks.
- If the scan finds anything, it will open a scan finding window. Please click on View Report; copy this report and paste it here in reply post.
- Please close the Emergency Kit Scanner program now.

Yes, have Emsisoft quarantine all that it finds. Then see if Norton finds Kotver again and please tell me the details of that finding. Thanks. Must go off to work now but will return this evening.

The full system scan with Norton found the Kotver!bat virus. But the Symantec fixtool does not find the Kotver virus on my system. Wondering if your thinking that Norton is fixated on the virus is correct and I should go with a different anti-virus?
I downloaded the free version of AVG to see what it finds. running now - 2:20pm east coast time

Can you tell me what the full scan says exactly? Does it give a file location, file name, etc.?

I ran a full system scan with the free version AVG virus scan - no treats found.
edit: 10pm. Earlier I downloaded AVG's PC Tune Up 1 day trial. It did find many fixes to my registry file, broken shortcuts, etc. I allowed the program to fix all these errors. I also did a check and scan dsk on my C drive - which took about 5 hours to run. I need to shut the PC down for the night and travel tomorrow morning with it. I will run Norton again sometime over the weekend to check to see if it finds any signs of Kotver!bat. Will keep you updated.
Thanks for all the help so far.

Might be a tad risky to have two AVs running at the same time. I will be checking to see about an update about the Norton scan when you get a chance.
Have a safe trip and thanks for your patience and help so far.
