Open notepad by pressing the Windows Key + R Key, typing in Notepad in the Run dialog and then pressing Enter. Please copy the contents of the quote box below. To do this highlight the contents of the box and right click on it and select copy. Paste this into the open notepad. Save it to your desktop as fixlist.txt NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work. NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating systemRun FRST64 by right clicking on the FRST64.exe file, selecting "Run as Administrator..". The User Account Control may open up; if it does, select Yes to continue to let FRST open and load. The tool will check for an updated version of itself every time it loads; please allow it to do this and the program will either inform you it is downloading an updated copy (and to wait until it is safe to continue) or show nothing (meaning there is no update found) and you can continue on. Press the Fix button just once and wait. The tool will create a restore point, process the script and ask for a restart of your system. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run. When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply. Also, tell me how your system is running now.

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it. Checkmark the following checkboxes: Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run. Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Here it is sir:
wikisend.com/download/350234/Result.txt
List Devices [ Only Problems / No Driver / All ]
By default, the "only problems" circle was tic'd. If this was not correct, let me know which one to tic.

Please download "Windows Repair All in One" from here. Double click on the file you downloaded to install the program; the default locations are fine. When the installer is finished, double click on the icon on your desktop to run the program. The program will run a self check to make sure that all the correct files are still in place for it to run and then it will load the program. As you can see, there are many steps to take in using this program. In this case we will use some of them to check your system and files and then to run a repair if needed. Please click on the tab labelled "Step 2: Optional". Once there, click on the "Open PreScan" and then click on "Start Scan". If this check finds any errors, please run the appropriate fixes on the bottom, Repair Resparce Points and / or Repair Environment Variables. Once these repairs are finished, you can run the PreScan check once more to see if the repairs were successful. Please click on the tab labelled "Step 3: Optional". Once there, click on the #1 button to run a 'See if Check Disk is needed (no restart required)' to see if any files are corrupt. If this informs you of some corrupt files, then run (click) on the #2 button on this page. Once the scan(s) are done continue to the next screen. Please click on the tab labelled "Step 4: Optional". Once there, click on the "Do It" button to run a System File Check. When the check is done, please continue on to the next screen. Please click on the tab labelled "Step 5: Backup". Once there, click on "Backup" under the 1. Registry Backup. This will make a complete backup of the current registry which can be reloaded should anything go wrong with the repairs that are going to be made. Also, click on the "Create" button under System Restore. Once this is done, click on 'Start Repairs' and then click on Start. (Note: If you just made a registry backup in the previous step, then you can uncheck the "Automatically do a registry backup" selection before you click Start.) On this screen, click the following (in this order): Select All, Restart/Shutdown System when finished, Restart System. Click "Start Repairs" and confirm that the program starts running the fixes. This will take a while to run, so you can let it run unattended if you like. NOTE: Please disable your AntiVirus for the duration of this tool's running (until the system restarts). If you don't know how, please come back here and ask.

Dbrisen: I did a bonehead thing. When I saw you had responded, I clicked on page 5 & followed the instructions in the post. I did not think to scroll down to your latest post. I copied the instructions from the May 18th post at 2:20 into Notepad & ran FRST.This is the fixlog: wikisend.com/download/690854/Fixlog.txt
I feel pretty stupid now. The computer is running slower than ever. I restarted it again & it failed to restart (blank screen, on/off button blinking). It did restart after holding the the on/off button down manualy to turn if off, then pressing it again to turn it back on.
I'm hoping FRST can work backwards to a restore point.
I hope you know how much I appreciate your help. I feel like I have caused you extra work now & I apologize. I am sorry for that.

Follow the directions and run Windows Repair All in One.
The extra Fixlist run was OK; those are just Microsoft commands and did no harm.

I installed the repair tool. When I opened it, I got a pop up telling me there is an updated version & a link to its download. Should I download the new versioin 3.2.0?

Always try and use the latest version IF the download is from the vendor / software producers web site.

I downloaded the new version & ran it. After the fact I realized I should be in safe mode with networking. Ran it again as such.
My computer is a bit faster, but still pretty slow. And I still have the banner.
